Court Hands 10 Years Jail to Two Drug Lords Arrested in NDLEA Operations

A Federal High Court in Lagos has jailed two major drug traffickers for 10 years.

NDLEA says the convictions prove its nationwide crackdown is yielding concrete results.

The Federal High Court in Lagos has sentenced two major drug traffickers, Ajetsibo Emami, popularly known as Warri Kinsman, and Solomon Akpomuai, to a combined 10 years in prison for offences related to drug trafficking.

Emami, 37, was taken into custody on June 28, 2025, in Ikeja after the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) carried out a three-day operation that dismantled his network. During the raid, three of his associates were also arrested, and officers recovered 24 jumbo bags containing 681 pouches of Canadian Loud, with a total weight of 414.2 kilograms.

He was arraigned before Justice Deinde Dipeolu in charge number FHC/L/636C/2025. On August 18, the judge found him guilty of trafficking and sentenced him to six years imprisonment. The ruling also gave him the option of paying a N50 million fine instead of serving the full jail term.

In a different case, 51-year-old Akpomuai was first stopped by Customs officers on June 3, 2025, along the Shagamu–Ijebu Ode expressway with 2,197.8 kilograms of skunk in his possession. He was handed over to the NDLEA on June 16 and later brought before Justice Dipeolu under charge number FHC/L/635C/2025. The court sentenced him to four years in prison, with an option of a N50 million fine.

NDLEA Chairman, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (rtd), described the convictions as proof that the agency’s anti-drug efforts are producing tangible results. He also expressed appreciation to the judiciary, investigators, prosecutors, and partners working towards the goal of a drug-free Nigeria.
