Billboard Names 2Face’s ‘African Queen’ Greatest Afrobeats Song of All Time

Billboard has unveiled its ranking of Afrobeats greatest songs, celebrating timeless Nigerian and Ghanaian hits.

Topping the chart is 2Face Idibia’s iconic “African Queen,” a song beloved across generations.

Billboard, the renowned American music magazine, has released its list of the Top 50 Greatest Afrobeats Songs of All Time.

Taking the number one spot is 2Face Idibia’s timeless hit, African Queen, which has long been considered one of the most iconic Afrobeats songs ever made.

Wizkid secured two positions in the top 10, making him the only artist with double entries. His breakout anthem Ojuelegba ranked second, while his global smash hit Essence featuring Tems came in at number five.

Other tracks in the top five include Flavour’s Nwa Baby (Ashawo Remix) at number three and Rema’s international hit Calm Down at number four.

The rest of the top 10 is filled with chart-topping classics such as CKay’s Love Nwantiti, D’banj’s Oliver Twist, Davido’s Fall, Burna Boy’s Ye, and P-Square’s Chop My Money Remix featuring Akon.

While Nigerian acts dominated the chart, Ghanaian stars also made an appearance. Fuse ODG’s Azonto featuring Itz Tiffany landed at number 18, while Sarkodie’s Adonai featuring Castro ranked 19th.

Styl-Plus’ evergreen ballad Olufunmi claimed the 11th spot, followed by 9ice’s Gongo Aso at number 12. P-Square’s Do Me and Davido’s Dami Duro were listed 13th and 14th, respectively.

Yemi Alade emerged as the highest-ranked female lead artist, with her hit single Johnny taking the 15th spot.

Wande Coal’s Bumper to Bumper at number 17 and Phyno’s Fada Fada featuring Olamide at number 20 rounded off the top 20.
