Delta Governor Launches Widow’s Welfare Scheme
Delta Governor Sheriff Oborevwori launched a widow’s welfare scheme, pledging ₦45,000 monthly stipends.
He said the program, benefiting 10,000 widows, reflects his administration’s focus on inclusive social empowerment.
Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State has reaffirmed that the welfare of the people is central to his administration’s agenda.

Speaking in Asaba during the official flag-off of the widow’s welfare scheme, the governor said that while infrastructure development remains important, true empowerment must also include social support programs that directly impact lives.
The scheme will provide monthly stipends of ₦45,000 to 10,000 widows across the state. Oborevwori explained that the initiative is designed to cushion the economic challenges faced by many women who bear the responsibility of caring for their families alone.
Several beneficiaries, who received their first payments at the event, commended the gesture, describing it as timely relief that would help them meet basic needs and improve their livelihoods.
The governor assured that his administration would continue to combine physical development with people-centered initiatives to ensure inclusive growth in Delta State.
