Mohamed Salah has become the first player to win the PFA Player award thrice.

The Liverpool star’s 29 goals and 18 assists powered Arne Slot’s side to Premier League glory.

Liverpool’s star forward, Mohamed Salah, has etched his name in football history by becoming the first player to win the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) Men’s Player of the Year award for a remarkable third time.

The 33-year-old Egyptian international showcased extraordinary talent during the 2024/25 season, netting 29 goals and providing 18 assists, instrumental in securing the Premier League title for Arne Slot’s Liverpool. His outstanding performances earned him unanimous acclaim from his peers, solidifying his status as a true legend of the game.

This accolade follows another significant milestone earlier this year, when Salah claimed his third Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year award, tying the all-time record.

Reflecting on his inspiring journey, Salah recalled his humble beginnings in Egypt, where he dreamed of being a professional footballer. “Of course, I aspired to be a football player and to achieve fame in order to support my family, but when you’re still in Egypt, you don’t grasp the enormity of it all. With time, your perspective changes, ambitions grow, and you begin to see the larger picture,” he shared.

Salah’s exceptional performance also led him to finish as the Premier League’s top scorer, further emphasising his crucial role in Liverpool’s championship win.

Joining him in the 2024/25 PFA Premier League Team of the Year were his teammates Virgil van Dijk, Ryan Gravenberch, and Alexis Mac Allister. Milos Kerkez, the new signing, has been included along with Arsenal players William Saliba, Gabriel Magalhaes, and Declan Rice.

Notably absent from the shortlist were Chelsea’s Cole Palmer and Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes, both of whom had strong seasons but did not make the final selection for the award.
