Jaywon Slams Billboard, Says His Song ‘This Year’ Had Bigger Impact

Jaywon has slammed Billboard for excluding his 2012 hit ‘This Year’ from its Afrobeats top 50 list.

The singer argued his track has had more cultural impact than many songs that were ranked.

Singer Jaywon has reacted strongly to Billboard after his hit song This Year was left out of the recently published list of the “Top 50 Best Afrobeats Songs of All-Time.”

The artist insisted that his 2012 track has had more influence than many of the songs that made the ranking. He also claimed that over the years, both gospel and Afrobeats musicians in Nigeria have followed the style of This Year.

Taking to his X page, Jaywon wrote:

Funny how billboard keeps making lists without doing the homework. numbers don’t lie, history do

Billboard’s list was topped by 2Face Idibia’s African Queen, with Wizkid’s Ojuelegba, Flavour’s Nwa Baby, Rema’s Calm Down, and CKay’s Love Nwantiti completing the top five.
