NAFDAC Warns Against Counterfeit Cowbell “Our Milk” 12g Sachets in Circulation
NAFDAC has issued a public alert warning Nigerians about counterfeit Cowbell “Our Milk” 12g sachets still in circulation.
The agency confirmed the product was discontinued in 2023, urging consumers to avoid it completely.
The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has raised an alert regarding the presence of counterfeit Cowbell “Our Milk” 12g sachets in Nigeria. These fake products pose significant health hazards and are not manufactured by Promasidor Nigeria Ltd, the brand owner. This warning is detailed in NAFDAC’s Public Alert No. 026/2025 and has been shared across its official communication channels.
NAFDAC announced that Promasidor has discontinued the “Our Milk” variant as of September 2023, replacing it with Cowbell Our Creamy Goodness. As a result, any “Our Milk” 12g sachets found for sale are considered counterfeit. The agency noted that these imitation products closely resemble the original packaging and illegally feature the Cowbell brand name, NAFDAC registration number, and various design elements intended to mislead consumers.

The counterfeit sachets are labeled as “Cowbell’ Our Milk’ 12g,” with indications of being produced by Promasidor Nigeria Ltd, a production date of 04/2025, and an expiry date of 12/2028. Consumers encountering any products with these details, or any “Our Milk” 12g sachets, should treat them as counterfeit and refrain from consumption.
The agency has warned that these fake milk products may contain harmful chemicals, unauthorized additives, or diluted ingredients, posing serious risks of foodborne illnesses, allergic reactions, organ damage, or even fatalities in extreme cases. Vulnerable populations, including infants, children, pregnant women, and the elderly, are particularly at risk and should exercise heightened caution.
NAFDAC advises consumers to remember that the legitimate Cowbell product now available in small sachets is marketed under the name “Our Creamy Goodness,” not “Our Milk.” Shoppers are urged to purchase from authorized retailers, carefully examine product labels, and be cautious of unusually low prices or packaging discrepancies. If there is any uncertainty about a product’s authenticity, it should not be consumed, and authorities should be notified immediately.
Reports regarding suspicious products can be made to the nearest NAFDAC office or through the agency’s hotlines and official communication channels. NAFDAC encourages both the public and healthcare professionals to report any suspected substandard or counterfeit food products for prompt investigation and enforcement action.
