Tiwa Savage has disclosed that her collaboration with British-Nigerian rapper Skepta began with a direct message.
The spontaneous chat quickly turned into a studio session that produced her new single ‘On The Low’.
Tiwa Savage has revealed that her new track with British-Nigerian rapper Skepta happened through a DM.
During an interview with BBC Radio 1, the singer explained that she reached out to him via a chat online which quickly led to a recording session.
“So, ladies, I want to say that it does work sometimes when you slide into that dm. But I did slide into the dm and I was like, hey, big smoke. I didn’t really tell him up front what I wanted. Kind of was just like, I’m in London.”
“What you doing? He’s like, yo, I’m in the studio. I’m like, oh, cool. So I went over and played him the record, and he loved it. I particularly loved shooting the visuals for this. So if you haven’t seen it, make sure you check it out.” she said.
The approach not only led to a studio session with Skepta but also birthed her latest single, On The Low. The single was officially released on July 30, 2025, and has since attracted significant attention from listeners in Nigeria and the UK.
