Drama As Students Protest in Awka, Insist on Retaining Agunaechemba and Udo Ga-Achi Security Teams

Students under NANS, NAPS, and NANCES held a solidarity rally in Anambra backing Governor Soludo’s security initiatives.

They praised “Operation Agunaechemba” for reducing crime and pledged support for his re-election.

Students under the umbrella of the National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS) and the National Association of Nigerian Colleges of Education Students (NANCES) staged a solidarity rally in Anambra, coordinated by the Joint Campus Council (JCC) of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) in the state.

The protest drew participants from several tertiary institutions, including Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka; Anambra State Polytechnic, Mgbakwu; Federal Polytechnic, Oko; Federal College of Education (Technical), Umunze; Nwafor Orizu College of Education, Nsugbe; Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Igbariam; and the Metallurgical Training Institute, Onitsha.

During the demonstration, NANS JCC Chairman in Anambra, Comrade Ifeanyichukwu Chukwuemerie, appealed to Governor Chukwuma Soludo to disregard any calls for the disbandment of “Operation Agunaechemba” and “Operation Udo Ga-Achi.” He stressed that the security operations had been effective in curbing crime, restoring peace, and safeguarding lives and property across the state.

“Students now feel safe to move around, even at night, without the constant fear of criminal attacks,” Chukwuemerie said, noting that the security outfit has changed the landscape of safety in the state.

Other student leaders also praised the Soludo administration for its investments in infrastructure, recreational facilities, and other development projects. They pledged their support for the governor’s re-election bid, saying the progress recorded so far was worth consolidating.

In his remarks, Comrade Okoye Matthew Okpara, Special Assistant to Governor Soludo on Student Affairs, applauded the youths for their solidarity, stating that the administration had improved both security and campus facilities to enhance learning conditions.

The governor’s Chief of Staff, Hon. Ernest Ezeajughi, who received the protesters, commended them for their show of confidence in the government. He urged students to remain law-abiding and warned against being swayed by those politicizing security issues in the state.

“What the governor has done in strengthening security is worthy of praise,” Ezeajughi said. “Kidnapping has reduced significantly, and the situation has changed for the better. We expect political actors to support these efforts, not undermine them. I also urge you, as students, to avoid acts that could tarnish your future.”
