NDLEA Nabs Suspect With 7,000 Tramadol Capsules in Kano
NDLEA officers in Kano have intercepted a young suspect carrying 7,000 Tramadol capsules.
The concealed drugs, hidden in a jerrycan, were seized during a road operation near Kwanar Dangora.
The Kano State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested a 29-year-old man in possession of 7,000 capsules suspected to be Tramadol.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, Sadiq Muhammad-Maigatari, confirmed the development in a statement released on Monday in Kano. He explained that the suspect was intercepted on Saturday by officers from the Kiru Area Command along the Zaria-Kano Road, near Kwanar Dangora, while travelling from Lagos.
According to the statement, the drugs, weighing about 4.1 kilograms, were carefully hidden inside a 20-litre oil jerrycan in an attempt to avoid detection. Muhammad-Maigatari described the operation as a significant achievement in the command’s campaign against drug trafficking and abuse within the state.
He praised the professionalism of the operatives, noting that their vigilance led to the discovery of the concealed substances. “It underscores the agency’s commitment to dismantling the supply network of harmful drugs and safeguarding communities,” he stated.
The Kano State NDLEA Commander, Abubakar Idris-Ahmad, also applauded the officers for their dedication to duty. He further acknowledged the leadership of NDLEA Chairman, retired Brigadier-General Mohamed Buba-Marwa, for his guidance and consistent support.
The command reassured residents of its determination to rid Kano State of dangerous substances, while encouraging continued cooperation from members of the public to achieve lasting success in the fight against drugs.
