Officers recovered a sword and clubs, warning against using social media to promote violence.
The Kano State Police Command has arrested two suspected thugs accused of inciting violence after appearing in viral videos brandishing dangerous weapons.

The suspects, identified as Mohammed Isma’il, popularly known as Linga, and Sani Abdulsalam, also called Guchi, were tracked down and arrested during an intelligence-led operation at Dala Quarters on Wednesday, August 27.
According to a statement issued by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Haruna Kiyawa, the two men had allegedly been mobilising youths in the area while posting video clips of themselves on social media platforms such as TikTok and Facebook. In the videos, they were seen wielding a sword and clubs in what authorities described as acts capable of disturbing public peace.
During the raid, police recovered a sword and two wooden clubs from the suspects. The Command explained that the arrests followed a directive from the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, who ordered swift action to prevent the escalation of violence. He further instructed that a thorough investigation be conducted into the activities of the suspects and any other individuals linked to their network.
The police boss also used the opportunity to caution residents against the misuse of social media to promote criminality. He stressed that the Command would not hesitate to bring anyone to justice who engages in thuggery, intimidation, or activities that threaten the peace and safety of communities.
“The Command urges parents and guardians to warn their children against involvement in such unlawful acts,” the statement read. “We are fully committed to protecting lives and property in Kano State, and no individual will be allowed to destabilize the peace we are working hard to maintain.”
Authorities also acknowledged the role of concerned citizens who provided credible information that aided the operation, urging members of the public to remain vigilant and continue to support law enforcement through timely reports.
