Kidnappers Demand N600m Ransom for Katsina Family, Vigilante Killed in Attack
Armed kidnappers in Katsina have demanded ₦600 million for the release of Anas Ahmadu, his wife Halimat, and their daughter Jidda.
Police confirmed the attack, which also left a vigilante dead, and pledged to rescue the victims.
Armed kidnappers in Katsina State have demanded N600 million for the release of a couple and their daughter abducted from their home in Filin Canada Quarters, Sabuwar Unguwa, Katsina metropolis.

The victims, identified as 33-year-old Anas Ahmadu, his wife Halimat, and their daughter Jidda, were taken in the early hours of Tuesday, August 26. During the attack, a vigilante member, Abdullahi Muhammad, 25, was shot dead while attempting to resist the gunmen.
A family source told Daily Trust that the kidnappers used Anas’ mobile phone to contact his wife’s uncle, Malam Ibrahim, demanding N600 million in ransom. The source explained that the abductors were informed that the family could not raise such an amount.
Confirming the incident, Katsina State Police Command spokesperson DSP Abubakar Sadiq stated that Commissioner of Police Bello Shehu had visited the scene, accompanied by senior officers, and deployed additional personnel and anti-kidnapping operatives to secure the victims’ release.
“On Tuesday, August 26, at about 0300 hrs, suspected gunmen armed with weapons attacked the residence of one Anas Ahmadu, kidnapping him, his wife, and daughter, Jidda Anas,” the PPRO said. “The hoodlums fatally shot one Abdullahi Muhammad, a local vigilante, and escaped before the arrival of police operatives.”
He added that investigations have commenced and assured residents that every effort is being made to rescue the victims unharmed. The police also urged members of the public to provide helpful information while promising strict confidentiality.
