Lagos Police Debunk Viral Claim Linking Restaurant to Human Parts Trade

Lagos Police have debunked a viral video alleging a restaurant was selling human body parts.

Spokesman Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed investigations proved the claims false, urging residents to disregard misinformation immediately.

The Lagos State Police Command has dismissed a viral social media video alleging that a restaurant along Airport Road is involved in killing people and selling human body parts to unsuspecting customers.

In a statement on Thursday, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, described the allegation as false, stressing that it had no factual basis.

According to Hundeyin, once the video surfaced, Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, directed the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to immediately launch an inquiry. The investigation, he said, confirmed that the claims were fabricated and lacked merit.

“The public is advised to disregard the video entirely,” the police spokesperson noted. “There is no evidence of criminal activity at the restaurant. Such misleading content is only capable of inciting fear and damaging the reputation of legitimate businesses.”

He further assured Lagos residents that the police remain vigilant and that citizens can safely patronise the restaurant in question.

The Command also revealed that efforts are underway to trace the creators of the video, warning that those responsible for spreading harmful misinformation will face prosecution. Members of the public with credible information about the individuals behind the clip are encouraged to reach out to the Complaint Response Unit on 09111111150 or 09111111151.

Hundeyin urged Lagosians to always verify information before circulating it, emphasizing that misinformation can cause unnecessary panic and social tension. He reiterated the police command’s commitment to protecting lives, property, and businesses across the state.
