Rivers Police Announce Movement Restriction Ahead of Local Government Elections
Rivers State Police Command has announced a midnight-to-dawn movement restriction ahead of Saturday’s local government elections.
Authorities assured voters of adequate security deployment to ensure peaceful, safe, and orderly polls.
The Rivers State Police Command has announced temporary restrictions on movement ahead of Saturday’s local government elections in the state.
In a statement issued by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, the police explained that the restriction will take effect from 12:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 30, 2025.
According to the directive, only persons on essential duties will be exempted from the restriction, while residents are urged to comply fully with the guidelines. The Command assured that the measure is aimed at ensuring a smooth, peaceful, and orderly conduct of the elections.
The police further disclosed that adequate security personnel have been deployed across the state, including land and waterways, to provide a safe atmosphere for voters and protect the integrity of the electoral process.
The Command emphasized its commitment to maintaining law and order before, during, and after the elections, and called on residents to cooperate with security agencies to achieve a violence-free exercise.
