Real Warri Pikin has revealed gastric sleeve surgery improved her health and made conception easier.
She said pregnancy has not slowed her career, insisting she remains fit to work actively.
Nigerian comedienne and actress Anita Asuoha, popularly known as Real Warri Pikin, has opened up about how gastric sleeve surgery transformed her health and made it easier for her to conceive.
In an interview with Punch, she revealed that the procedure involved removing about 80 percent of her stomach, which helped her achieve a healthy weight and overall well-being. She explained that the surgery made her pregnancy journey smoother and risk-free, eliminating several challenges she had faced when overweight.
Speaking further, she clarified that the surgery did not affect her reproductive system. “The surgery had nothing to do with my womb, or my reproductive system in general. Many obese people who are actually trying to give birth find it difficult because of their size, but when they lose weight, it becomes easy,” she said.
On working while pregnant, she dismissed the notion that pregnancy should pause her career.
“At what point was it stated that pregnancy means you cannot do certain things? My doctor has confirmed I am perfectly fine, and I am not a high-risk patient, so why shouldn’t I work? Our mothers and those before them went to the farms until they gave birth. Some even delivered their babies on the farm. So why should my being pregnant and hosting a show in the US be treated as an exception?”
She concluded that she still has her family, marriage, and career to focus on, stressing that being pregnant does not mean putting her life on hold.
