The Adamawa State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a 29-year-old man, Isiaka Hassan, for allegedly murdering a five-year-old child, Abba Bashiru, in Tingno, Lamurde Local Government Area.

In a statement issued on Sunday, August 31, 2025, the Command’s spokesperson, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, said the case was reported after the victim’s mother, Hadiza Bashiru, alerted the police that her son had gone missing.
According to Nguroje, Hadiza told officers that the child was last seen in the company of the suspect. Acting on the tip, operatives led by the Divisional Police Officer in Tingno moved quickly to arrest Hassan.
During questioning, the suspect allegedly admitted to conspiring with another accomplice, who is still at large, to kill the boy and bury him in a shallow grave. Police recovered the remains, which have since been taken to the hospital for autopsy.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, has ordered the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to take over the case and track down the fleeing accomplice.
The command assured residents that justice would be pursued to its conclusion and appealed for public cooperation in tackling violent crimes across Adamawa State.
