Diaspora Youth Coalition Demands Sack of Transport Minister Alkali

A youth coalition in diaspora has called for the sack of Transport Minister Saidu Alkali.

They accused him of neglecting Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and failing Nigeria’s transport sector.

A coalition operating under the banner of United Nigeria Youths in Diaspora has demanded the immediate dismissal of the Minister of Transportation, Saidu Alkali, accusing him of failing to align with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

In a joint statement issued by the group’s coordinator, Joel Amos, and co-signed by Johannah Adamu, the coalition voiced strong dissatisfaction, describing Alkali’s tenure as uninspiring and harmful to the transport sector.

“The nation’s transport system has turned into a daily struggle for citizens. Fares are skyrocketing without checks, vehicles on the roads are increasingly unsafe, and there is no meaningful intervention from the ministry,” the statement read.

The group also faulted the management of the rail system, alleging that large sums of public funds have been spent with little or no visible outcome. “Billions are being pumped into the railways, yet commuters are left with services that barely function,” they said.

They further questioned why a ministry so central to economic growth is failing to deliver value when other countries are making rapid strides in modernizing their transportation networks.

Citing the difficulties residents of Abuja face in moving around the capital, the coalition suggested that a metro rail network could be a practical solution. “Routes such as Suleja to Berger, Mararaba to Berger, and Abaji to Berger could transform mobility in Abuja, yet such ideas have been ignored,” the statement added.

The group closed by appealing to President Tinubu to act swiftly, urging him to replace Alkali with a forward-thinking leader capable of driving reforms and providing Nigerians with a functional and reliable transport system.
