Finnish Court Jails Simon Ekpa for Terrorism
A Finnish district court has sentenced pro-Biafra agitator Simon Ekpa to six years imprisonment.
He was found guilty of inciting terrorism, supplying weapons, and violating tax and legal regulations.
A district court in Finland has sentenced Simon Ekpa, a prominent pro-Biafra agitator, to six years imprisonment on terrorism-related charges.

The Päijät-Häme District Court delivered the judgment on Monday, September 1, finding Ekpa guilty of inciting acts of terror and collaborating with a terrorist organisation.
According to Finnish outlet Yle, the court held that between August 2021 and November 2024, Ekpa used his vast social media influence to inflame unrest in Nigeria’s South-East. Judges also concluded that he facilitated the supply of firearms, explosives, and ammunition to armed groups through his network of contacts, while urging his followers on social media platform X to commit violent crimes in Nigeria.
The ruling further established that although the offences were carried out in Nigeria, Ekpa, who resides in the Finnish city of Lahti and once served as a local councilor, orchestrated them from Finland, giving the court jurisdiction to hear the case.
Ekpa denied all allegations throughout the proceedings, insisting he had no involvement in terrorism.
In addition to the terrorism conviction, the court found him guilty of aggravated tax evasion and breaching Finland’s Attorneys Act, which regulates the practice of law.
