Wike Warns PDP Against Readmitting Peter Obi Ahead of 2027
FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has cautioned the PDP against readmitting Peter Obi ahead of 2027.
He warned the move would destabilize the party, accusing some members of hypocrisy and selfish ambition.
Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has warned the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) against efforts to readmit former Anambra State governor, Peter Obi, into the party.

Wike, who spoke during a media chat on Monday, September 1, said speculations about Obi’s possible return ahead of the 2027 presidential election are “dangerous” for the PDP.
Reports suggest that some PDP stakeholders have been engaging Obi with the aim of making him the party’s presidential candidate in 2027. Among those who publicly admitted to supporting his return are Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed and Senator Abba Moro, the Senate Minority Leader.
But Wike dismissed the discussions as hypocritical and warned that Obi’s return would further destabilize the party.
“Bringing Obi to where? Do you want to kill the party more? Some of these people don’t have character,” he said. “
Obi was abusing the party, saying the party was rotten. So, now the party is good enough for him to run? If you want to destroy this party, dare to bring Peter Obi. Let him come. There is nowhere he wouldn’t go because of ambition.”
The former Rivers State governor argued that allowing personal political ambitions to override party principles could worsen the PDP’s internal crisis.
“Some people’s ambition can make them go to Satan’s house. Can’t we be principled? Because we are looking for a President? We must stand by what is right,” Wike added.
