18-Year-Old Remanded in Ekiti Over Alleged Rape of 2-Year-Old
An Ekiti Chief Magistrate Court has ordered the remand of 18-year-old Solomon Sunday for allegedly raping a two-year-old.
The case has been sent to the DPP, with hearing adjourned to October 14.
A Chief Magistrate Court in Ado-Ekiti, the capital of Ekiti State, has ordered the remand of an 18-year-old, Solomon Sunday, over the alleged rape of a two-year-old girl.
According to the prosecutor, Inspector Olasunkanmi Bankole, the incident occurred on August 24, 2025, within the Ado-Ekiti Magisterial District. He told the court that the alleged offence contravenes Section 31 of the Child Rights Law of Ekiti State, 2021, and urged the court to grant the remand order.
Bankole explained that the case file had already been forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal advice, insisting there was sufficient basis to suspect the defendant.
Chief Magistrate Adefunke Anoma granted the application, ordering that Solomon be kept in a correctional facility pending further investigation. The case was adjourned to October 14, 2025, for mention.
