INEC Records Over 2.5 Million Online Pre-Registrations in Ongoing CVR
INEC says over 2.5 million Nigerians have completed online pre-registration in the ongoing voter registration.
The Commission urged applicants to visit its centers to capture biometrics and complete the process.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that more than 2.5 million Nigerians have so far completed online pre-registration in the ongoing nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.
In a statement released after its regular meeting on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, the Commission said that as of Sunday, August 31, a total of 2,532,062 citizens had signed up through its online platform.
INEC disclosed that women slightly outnumber men among registrants, with 1,313,580 (51.88%) female applicants compared to 1,218,482 (48.12%) male applicants. The Commission also highlighted that youths between the ages of 18 and 34 dominate the exercise, making up 63.29% (1,602,484) of the total figure, while students account for 25.57% (647,528).
However, INEC stressed that online pre-registration alone does not complete the process. Applicants must still appear in person at designated centres for biometric data capture. The Commission urged registrants to visit any of its 811 State and Local Government offices across Nigeria to finalise their registration.
For citizens without internet access or those who prefer face-to-face registration, INEC assured that all its centers remain open from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Mondays to Fridays.
