One Dead, Two Injured in Ikorodu Road Accident
A bus and truck crash on Ikorodu Road killed one passenger and injured two others.
LASTMA confirmed the accident and urged drivers to be more careful on Lagos roads.
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has confirmed that a fatal crash occurred on Tuesday at the Idi-Iroko inward Ogolonto stretch of Ikorodu Road, leaving one person dead and two others severely injured.

According to LASTMA’s General Manager, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, who issued a statement through the agency’s spokesperson, Taofiq Adebayo, the incident involved a heavily loaded truck (registration EKY 121 YJ) and a commercial Mazda bus (registration LND 490 SD).
Investigations by security operatives indicated that the bus driver, while struggling for right of way along the main carriageway from the Agric axis, collided with the oncoming truck. In the process, a passenger sitting dangerously at the doorway of the bus was flung out and crushed under the truck’s rear tires, resulting in instant death.
Two other commuters a man and a woman sustained life-threatening injuries. Emergency responders from the Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS) rushed them to Ikorodu General Hospital for urgent treatment.
Bakare-Oki explained that the deceased’s remains were later released to relatives by police officers at the scene, while security personnel from Owutu Police Division provided additional support to ensure the rescue operation was carried out without disruption.
To ease traffic gridlock in the area, LASTMA officials evacuated both the Mazda bus and the articulated truck. Bakare-Oki extended condolences to the victim’s family and urged drivers to exercise patience and responsibility, especially along busy routes such as the Ikorodu corridor.
The accident comes barely a day after another crash at Ibeju Bus Stop on the Lekki–Epe Expressway claimed six lives, including that of a child, while nine others sustained varying degrees of injuries.
