FCT Police Spokesperson Cautions Men Against Abandoning Families for New Marriages

FCT Police spokesperson Josephine Adeh has decried the rising trend of men abandoning marriages for second wives.

She warned the practice neglects families and urged couples to embrace patience, love, and dialogue.

The spokesperson of the Federal Capital Territory Police Command, Josephine Adeh, has raised alarm over the increasing number of men walking out of their marriages and immediately taking second wives.

Adeh described the trend as troubling, noting that instead of showing patience and working through challenges, many men now treat polygamy as a shortcut that leaves their partners and children emotionally neglected.

“Why can’t couples take time to sit down, talk, and find solutions for the sake of their children?” she asked. “Have we lost the courage to fight for peace, love, and family stability?”

She compared the sudden rush into second marriages to a consumer fad, remarking: “It is almost as if taking another wife has become the latest upgrade, like a phone model that everyone is eager to get.”

Adeh warned that the breakdown of homes does not only hurt the immediate family but also creates wider social problems, with children from unstable backgrounds often carrying the heaviest burden.

She urged men to place more value on communication, tolerance, and compromise within their relationships instead of turning to polygamy as an easy option. Families, she stressed, need lasting solutions rooted in love and harmony to remain strong and resilient.
