FG Declares Friday, September 5, Public Holiday for Eid-ul-Mawlid
The Federal Government has declared Friday a public holiday for Eid-ul-Mawlid celebrations nationwide.
Muslims are urged to embrace the Prophet’s values of peace, love, unity and compassion.
The Federal Government has declared Friday, September 5, 2025, as a public holiday to mark Eid-ul-Mawlid, which commemorates the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad.
The announcement was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday in Abuja by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Dr. Magdalene Ajani.

In his message, Interior Minister Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo conveyed his goodwill to Muslims across Nigeria and the global community on the occasion. He encouraged the Muslim faithful to reflect on the Prophet’s qualities of peace, humility, love, tolerance, and compassion, noting that these virtues remain vital for building a united and progressive society.
The minister added that the celebration is an opportunity for Nigerians to deepen bonds of brotherhood, promote peaceful coexistence, and embrace values of mutual respect and service to humanity.
