In a post on his official X page on Wednesday, the governor said the rail line has been running efficiently and safely, with no accidents recorded since operations began in 2023.

“Over the last two years, the Blue Line has transported more than five million people without a single mishap,” Sanwo-Olu wrote. “Today, trains run every 10 minutes, completing more than 90 trips daily. What used to be long and stressful journeys have now become easier and quicker.”

The governor said the feat demonstrates what can be achieved with focus and commitment. He expressed gratitude to Lagos residents for their support, adding that the project belongs to the people and represents their collective aspiration for a modern city.

To celebrate the second anniversary of the rail service, Sanwo-Olu announced a 50 percent discount on fares for Thursday, September 4, 2025. “I encourage those who have not yet boarded the Blue Line to take advantage of the reduced fares and see firsthand what we have accomplished together,” he said.
