Tinubu Declares End to Borrowing, Says Nigeria Has Met Revenue Mobilization Target
President Bola Tinubu says Nigeria has exceeded revenue targets and will reduce reliance on borrowing.
He announced new nationwide agricultural reforms aimed at boosting food security and lifting millions from poverty.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced that his administration has surpassed its revenue generation targets and will no longer depend on borrowing to run the affairs of government. He explained that fiscal discipline, rather than debt accumulation, now guides the country’s economic policies.

Tinubu made this known on Tuesday while receiving a delegation of founding members of the now-defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The president revealed that his government is set to introduce a nationwide agricultural mechanization initiative. Under the plan, farm service centers will be created across all regions to improve output, guarantee food self-sufficiency, and lift millions of Nigerians out of poverty.
Leading the delegation, former Nasarawa State Governor and ex-senator Tanko Al-Makura assured the president of the CPC bloc’s loyalty within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). He promised that they would mobilize across the country to strengthen the party’s chances in the 2027 elections.
Al-Makura praised Tinubu for navigating Nigeria through tough economic challenges, maintaining peace, and honoring the legacy of their late mentor, former President Muhammadu Buhari. He described Tinubu and Buhari as visionary leaders whose collaboration paved the way for fairness, equity, and national renewal through the historic merger that produced the APC in 2013.
He pledged that the CPC family which includes former governors, ministers, legislators, party executives, and women leaders will fully support Tinubu’s reforms and work to consolidate the APC’s political strength ahead of the next general election. The delegation also featured former commissioners, advisers, national officers, and members of the Buhari Support Organization.
