Kano Hisbah Destroys 1600 Bottles of Beer
Kano Hisbah Board has seized 1,600 bottles of alcohol during a raid in Panshekara.
Officials said the operation followed a community tip-off, stressing alcohol sales remain banned in the state.
The Kano State Hisbah Board has confiscated at least 1,600 bottles of assorted alcoholic drinks during an operation in the Panshekara area of Kano metropolis.

Deputy Commander General of the board, Dr. Mujahid Aminudeen, confirmed the development in a telephone interview on Wednesday. He said the exercise was carried out with strong community support after a tip-off.
“With the cooperation of residents in Panshekara, our officials intercepted and seized about 1,600 bottles of beer, including those packaged in glass, cans, and plastic containers,” Aminudeen explained.
While he declined to disclose the number of arrests made during the raid, Aminudeen appealed to the public to continue assisting the board in its campaign against the sale and use of intoxicants. “The law establishing the Kano State Hisbah Board is clear. It prohibits the consumption and sale of alcohol and other intoxicating substances within the state,” he said.
He noted that the board will continue public awareness campaigns and advocacy visits to discourage drinking and other activities it considers immoral. According to him, the seized items will be destroyed once a court order is secured.
“We will follow due process to ensure these drinks are destroyed. Our officers remain committed to ensuring that beer consumption is completely stamped out in the state,” Aminudeen added.
This comes just weeks after the Yobe State Hisbah Commission destroyed a large cache of alcoholic drinks and prosecuted individuals accused of prostitution and alcohol-related offences during a major crackdown.
