The President gave the assurance on Tuesday at the State House in Abuja when he received a delegation of prominent citizens of Katsina, led by Governor Dikko Umaru Radda. He also confirmed that the federal government is actively reviewing the establishment of state police to complement national security structures.

Tinubu lamented the politicization of the debate on state policing, stressing that in some states, effective security requires outfits that understand local culture, terrain, and grassroots networks. He further directed that he should receive daily operational feedback from Katsina to closely monitor developments.

Governor Radda expressed appreciation for the President’s support to the state, noting that several Katsina indigenes had been appointed into key federal positions and that infrastructure projects were already underway.

Former Governor Aminu Bello Masari thanked Tinubu for granting former President Muhammadu Buhari a state burial that reflected his stature and assured the federal government of Katsina’s continued loyalty.

The Waziri of Katsina, Senator Ibrahim Ida, also commended the President for sustaining progress on the Kano–Maradi rail line and other key infrastructure. He, however, appealed for the upgrade of Umaru Musa Yar’Adua International Airport to maximize its capacity.

Ida further urged the federal government to step up security interventions in the southern parts of the state, which he said have come under increasing pressure from bandit attacks.
