Goodluck Jonathan Reveals How Politicians Betrayed Him in 2015

Former President Goodluck Jonathan says he faced betrayal from many politicians during his 2015 re-election bid.

He praised ex-Chief of Staff Mike Oghiadomhe for staying loyal despite intense political pressure.

Former President Goodluck Jonathan has revealed that many politicians turned their backs on him during his bid for re-election in 2015.

Jonathan made this remark in Benin City, Edo State, at the 70th birthday celebration of his longtime ally, Chief Mike Aiyegbeni Oghiadomhe. He praised Oghiadomhe as one of the few associates who remained loyal to him even when political pressure was intense.

“Politics in the Nigerian standard is about betrayals,” Jonathan said, adding that during the 2015 contest, “I witnessed a lot of betrayal. You will find it difficult to see somebody who says the same thing in the morning, in the afternoon and in the evening.”

Oghiadomhe had served as Jonathan’s Chief of Staff from 2010 until 2014 and was regarded as a trusted hand within his government.

The former president’s comments come at a time when speculations are growing about a possible political comeback in 2027 under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Although reports have been circulating, Jonathan has not confirmed any intention to contest.
