Police Summon El-Rufai and ADC Leaders Over Alleged Criminal Offences

Kaduna Police have summoned ex-Governor Nasir El-Rufai and ADC leaders over alleged conspiracy, incitement, and grievous harm.

They are expected to appear before investigators on September 8 for questioning.

The Kaduna State Police Command has invited former Governor Nasir El-Rufai and several chieftains of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for questioning over alleged criminal activities.

In a letter dated September 4, 2025, the command stated that El-Rufai and the ADC leaders were being investigated for alleged criminal conspiracy, incitement of public disturbance, mischief, and causing grievous harm. They are expected to appear at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) on September 8 to respond to the allegations.

The police explained that the invitation followed petitions filed by complainants and was necessary to enable investigators to clarify the issues before proceeding further.

Those summoned alongside the former governor include Bashir Sa’idu, Jafaru Sani, Ubaidullah Mohammed (popularly known as 30), Nasiru Maikano, Aminu Abita, and Ahmed Rufa’i Hussaini, also called Mikiya.

The development comes at a politically sensitive time in Kaduna, as El-Rufai has remained an influential figure since leaving office in 2023. His reported alliance with the ADC in the state has drawn attention from political watchers, particularly as the 2027 general elections approach. Analysts suggest that the case could carry political undertones, especially given El-Rufai’s continued presence in national debates and his criticism of certain policies of the current administration.

While the police have not disclosed further details of the allegations, the charges ranging from conspiracy to public incitement suggest a potentially serious case that could impact political alignments in the state.

As of the time of this report, neither El-Rufai nor the ADC leadership had issued a public statement on the summons. The Kaduna Police Command, however, has assured that due process will be followed in handling the matter.
