Peter Obi Suspends Public Engagements to Focus on Health
Peter Obi says he is taking a brief break from public engagements on doctors’ advice after feeling unwell.
The former Labour Party candidate assured supporters he is resting and expressed gratitude for understanding.
Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has announced that he will be taking a short break from public activities on medical advice.

In a statement on his X account, Obi explained that after attending recent events in Enugu and Anambra, he began to feel unwell and consulted a doctor, who prescribed medication and recommended rest for a few days.
Obi disclosed that while in Anambra, he visited the Good Hope Specialist Hospital in Isulo, Orumba South LGA, a facility now being acquired by the Aguata Diocese of the Church of Nigeria. He said he supported the initiative with a ₦10 million donation to help the Diocese revive the hospital. According to him, faith-based organizations have a proven record of delivering quality services when properly supported, and the Diocese’s plan to develop the centre into a full health complex with training schools for nurses and midwives is a commendable step toward a stronger healthcare system.
He added that he later travelled to Owerri to attend a dinner hosted in honour of former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai. However, due to his health, he will not be able to keep up with his scheduled commitments within and outside Nigeria this weekend.
Obi apologised for any inconvenience caused by his absence and appealed for understanding as he takes time to recover.
