The beneficiaries, selected from Senior Secondary School (SSS) Two and Three, excelled in a mock examination conducted at the end of a four-week summer coaching program organized by the council. The initiative, according to the council, aims to reward academic excellence while easing the financial burden on struggling families.

During the presentation ceremony at the council secretariat on Sunday, Chairman Jimoh Saliu reiterated his administration’s commitment to empowering young people through education.

“We are trying to build the future of our youth and assure them that their future is secure with us,” he said.

Saliu added that the council would also support the top-performing candidates by covering registration costs for the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examination.

He further revealed that students aspiring to study science-based courses such as Medicine, Nursing, Engineering, Pharmacy, and Computer Science would benefit from scholarships to pursue higher education.

Recognizing the need for diverse career pathways, the council also announced plans to establish a technical secondary school to provide vocational training.

“We recognize that not every student will follow the same academic path. So, we want to create opportunities for technical education to empower our youths with practical skills,” Saliu explained.

The Head of Education in Apapa-Iganmu, Jinadu Olalekan, described the gesture as “a lifeline for many students.” Several beneficiaries expressed their gratitude for the support.
