The 51-year-old explained that he had been quietly supporting aging Nollywood stars for a long time, offering help to those who were struggling outside the spotlight. For him, assisting veterans had always been a personal effort until he chose to make it public.

Afod said the turning point came when he turned 50. At the time, he noticed several social media comments criticizing actors for focusing on lavish celebrations while neglecting the pioneers who built the industry. According to him, this inspired him to begin showcasing his outreach so people could see that veterans were being cared for.

He added that making his work open has brought more encouragement and attention to many elderly actors who often feel forgotten. Afod stressed that his priority now is to ensure these veterans get both financial and emotional support.

He said: “When I decided to go public was during my 50th birthday, my comment section read: ‘They only know how to do party. They do not take care of the old actors who paved way in the industry’. I said we have been doing it but people have not been seeing in the public space.”

“After that I decided I was going to go public with the help rendering. As God would have it, it even helped the elderly ones. That is why I stuck to all the veterans alone. You said our veterans are suffering. So, I am on them now.”
