Tinubu Hails Shettima, Others on Nigerian Economic Society Fellowship
President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Vice President Kashim Shettima and other Nigerians honored as Fellows of the Nigerian Economic Society.

President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Vice President Kashim Shettima and other prominent Nigerians on their induction as Fellows of the Nigerian Economic Society (NES).

In a statement issued on Monday, September 8, the President described the fellowship as recognition of their remarkable input in shaping economic policy, research, and national development.
He praised Vice President Shettima for his forward-thinking approach and strong commitment to the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, particularly in areas of inclusive growth, employment creation, and sustainable progress.
The President also celebrated Dr. Iyabo Masha, an economist and Director of the Intergovernmental Group of Twenty-Four on International Monetary Affairs and Development (G-24), for receiving the honor. Masha previously served on Nigeria’s Presidential Economic Advisory Council between 2019 and 2022, providing guidance on key policy issues.
According to President Tinubu, the awards are “well-deserved and a source of encouragement to younger economists and policy experts across the nation.” He further commended their innovation and service as examples of the excellence his administration seeks to promote.
The President urged the new Fellows to continue applying their expertise to strengthen Nigeria’s economic resilience and competitiveness. He assured them of his government’s readiness to partner with professionals and institutions to achieve lasting growth and prosperity for citizens.
