The 33-year-old, whose real name is Lolita Callender, was ambushed late Saturday night in Texas Square, East Ruimveldt. According to police, around 11:35 p.m., a man on a motorcycle approached her parked white Mercedes-Benz and opened fire before escaping the scene. Callender sustained severe injuries, including gunshot wounds to her face, neck, hands, and right leg. She was rushed to Georgetown Public Hospital, where doctors listed her condition as critical.
The Guyana Police Force confirmed on Sunday that one suspect has been arrested and is assisting investigators. CCTV footage shared by local media captures a lone gunman approaching her car just before firing multiple shots.
Her brother, who witnessed the aftermath, recounted the harrowing moment. “I was inside when I heard gunshots and ran out… only to see my sister lying in her car with blood pouring out. “She bled heavily, but she’s a fighter,” he said in an interview with Stabroek News.
Authorities are urging the public to share any information, stressing that anonymous tips can also be submitted through emergency hotlines.
