Derek Dixon Takes Sexual Allegations Against Tyler Perry to National TV, Recounts Alleged Incident

Tyler Perry faces renewed scrutiny as actor Derek Dixon takes his allegations from court to television.

Dixon detailed an alleged 2020 incident in a preview of his ABC News interview.

The dispute between Hollywood mogul Tyler Perry and actor Derek Dixon has shifted from the courtroom to national television. Dixon, who once appeared on Perry’s BET series The Oval, sat down with ABC News’ Linsey Davis to reiterate his claims against the billionaire filmmaker.

In a preview clip released ahead of the full interview, Dixon described what he says was the first alleged incident. According to him, the encounter happened at Perry’s Atlanta home in January 2020. “I got into bed and then I noticed that he climbed into bed with me as well and started rubbing my leg. I jumped up out of bed,” Dixon recounted. He added that unless someone has experienced such a situation, it’s difficult to grasp the fear and loss of control it creates.

Dixon has filed a $260 million lawsuit against Perry and Tyler Perry Studios, accusing them of workplace harassment, sexual assault, and battery. He claims he was invited to Perry’s home, became intoxicated, fell asleep in a guest room, and awoke to the alleged incident.

Representatives for Perry have denied the claims, dismissing the lawsuit as false and calling it an attempted scam.
