UNILAG Dismisses Glitch Claims, Upholds Integrity Of 2025/2026 Post-UTME Screening

UNILAG has dismissed claims of technical glitches causing malpractice flags during its Post-UTME screening.

The university insists flagged cases resulted from clear rule violations detected through secure monitoring and video surveillance.

The University of Lagos (UNILAG) has rejected claims that a technical glitch was responsible for malpractice cases flagged during its 2025/2026 Post-UTME computer-based screening exercise, held from September 1 to 4.

Recent posts on social media and circulated emails alleged that candidates were unfairly accused of misconduct due to system errors. However, UNILAG management insisted that all flagged cases were based on “clear violations” of examination rules.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the university explained that malpractice was detected through multiple monitoring mechanisms, including secure video surveillance.

“These detections followed the use of multiple monitoring mechanisms, including secure video surveillance,” the statement said.

The university emphasized that while it would not release uncensored video recordings, citing data protection and legal concerns, it may publish anonymized screenshots to demonstrate the type of misconduct uncovered.

The clarification follows growing anxiety among parents and prospective students who questioned the fairness and credibility of the admissions process.

UNILAG urged candidates and stakeholders to rely only on official communication channels, dismissing speculation and unofficial updates circulating online.

“The University of Lagos reiterates its unwavering commitment to integrity, fairness, and transparency in its admissions process, and will not be distracted by conjectures or misinformation,” it stated.

By addressing the allegations, UNILAG sought to reassure the public of its commitment to a credible admissions process. The institution maintained that its screening exercise would remain rooted in transparency, academic integrity, and fairness, regardless of external pressure.
