Officials said the unregistered medicines were smuggled from China and hidden under false labels.
The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has seized 277 cartons of fake and unregistered Malamal Forte anti-malaria drugs valued at more than ₦1.2 billion during a raid on a warehouse in the Ilasa-Oshodi area of Lagos.

According to the agency, the illicit medicines were brought into Nigeria from China and hidden in cartons marked “Diclofenac Potassium 50mg,” with customs papers falsely claiming they contained spare parts.
NAFDAC Director-General, Professor Mojisola Adeyeye, reaffirmed that the agency, working closely with the Presidency and the Federal Ministry of Health, remains determined to eliminate counterfeit pharmaceuticals from the Nigerian market and protect citizens’ health.
