Trump Says Possible Suspect in Charlie Kirk Shooting Held in Custody
President Donald Trump said a suspect in Charlie Kirk’s killing is now in police custody.
He credited a family tip for the breakthrough while authorities await public confirmation.
U.S. President Donald Trump has said that a person believed to be responsible for the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk is now in police custody.

Speaking on Fox News’ Fox & Friends on Friday, the president disclosed that investigators had made a breakthrough shortly before his appearance on the program. “I was told just minutes ago that we’re almost certain we’ve got the individual,” he said during the live broadcast.
Trump noted that it was a family member who tipped off law enforcement, adding that more information would be released later in the day. Authorities, however, have not yet confirmed any arrest publicly or disclosed the suspect’s identity.
He went on to thank law enforcement for “working closely and doing an excellent job” and expressed hope that the perpetrator of Kirk’s murder would face the harshest possible punishment.
Kirk, a 31-year-old married father of two and founder of the conservative youth group Turning Point USA, was fatally shot in the neck while speaking at a university campus in Utah on Thursday. He had been addressing a crowd about mass shootings when the incident occurred, prompting a nationwide manhunt for the attacker.
