The United States Mission in Nigeria has issued a fresh reminder that fees paid for visa applications cannot be refunded or transferred, regardless of whether an application is approved or denied.
The notice comes amid rising complaints over the cost of U.S. visa applications, particularly from Nigerians who lose money when their applications are rejected.
In a message shared on its official X account on Tuesday, September 16, the Mission said it understands the frustration of applicants but stressed that the fees are meant to cover processing costs.
According to the post, the Mission emphasized that every application is handled with fairness and thorough review. It also urged prospective applicants to carefully prepare their paperwork and make use of resources provided on its website to improve their chances of success.
