Speaking at the TIFF Tribute Awards, the award-winning British actor reflected on his recent experience filming Dust to Dreams in Lagos, where he worked alongside international music star Seal. Elba noted that the shoot offered him a front-row seat to Nigeria’s dynamic arts scene and bustling city life.
“Lagos, if you’ve never been, it’s the most amazing place, city in the world. I had a great time. The talent there is incredible,” Elba said, praising the city’s blend of music, culture, and resilience.
He also revealed that the filming experience marked a milestone moment for Seal, who, for the first time, performed with his authentic Nigerian accent. This, Elba said, added to the sense of cultural pride and authenticity surrounding the project.
