Two Killed, 12 Injured as Truck Ploughs Into Crowd in Katsina

Two people died and 12 others were injured after a truck rammed into a crowd in Katsina State.

Police say the driver fled as efforts continue to track him down.

Two people have been confirmed dead and 12 others injured following a road crash in Musawa Local Government Area of Katsina State.

The accident occurred around 8:45 p.m. on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, in Jikamshi village when a Mitsubishi Canter truck (registration number TSF-243-XF), loaded with sugarcane, veered off the road and ran into a crowd.

According to witnesses, the driver, who fled the scene, lost control of the vehicle before it struck the gathering, resulting in multiple casualties. Police officers from Musawa Division quickly arrived, secured the area and moved the injured to the General Hospital, Musawa.

Two victims 38-year-old Mustapha Umar and 34-year-old Mani Salisu were pronounced dead at the hospital, while 12 others were admitted for treatment. Several people with minor injuries received immediate care and were discharged. Authorities say efforts are underway to track down the runaway driver.
