Ekiti State Government Bans Graduation Ceremonies in Schools
Ekiti State bans graduation ceremonies in all schools from the 2025/2026 session to cut costs.
It also extends textbook lifespan and urges parents to reuse books to ease financial burdens.
The Ekiti State Government has prohibited graduation ceremonies for pupils in kindergarten, nursery, primary and secondary schools across the state.

The new policy, which will come into effect from the 2025/2026 academic session, was announced in a circular issued by the Office of the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Mr. Mike Omolayo.
According to the circular, the measure is aimed at easing financial burdens on parents and preventing excesses often linked to end-of-session celebrations.
The government also reviewed the lifespan of school textbooks. It stated that primary school books will now be reviewed every six years, while secondary school textbooks will be updated every four years instead of the previous three-year cycle.
Parents and guardians have been encouraged to pass down textbooks to younger children provided the books remain in good condition, as part of efforts to promote affordability and sustainability in education.
