Abia Police Arrest Two Women for Alleged Child Theft in Aba Church
Abia Police arrest two women for allegedly abducting two children from a church in Aba.
Both children were rescued unharmed and reunited with their family as investigations continue.
The Abia State Police Command has arrested two women, identified as 58-year-old Louis Osueke and 42-year-old Esther Jude, for allegedly abducting two children from a church in Okpuumuobo, Aba.

Commissioner of Police Danladi Isa disclosed the arrests during a press briefing at the command headquarters in Umuahia on Friday, September 19, 2025. He said the children, a six-year-old girl, Chidinma Uzochukwu, and a 10-month-old baby were rescued unharmed and reunited with their family.
According to Isa, acting on credible intelligence, police operatives conducted an operation on September 17, 2025, which led to the arrest of Osueke, from Umuohia Village, Ahiazu Mbaise LGA, Imo State, and Jude, from Umuimeka Village, Owerri West LGA, Imo State. He explained that the arrests are linked to a child theft incident that took place on September 7, 2025, at an Anglican Church in Okpuumuobo, Aba.
Police confirmed that both children were safely recovered and that further investigation into the case is ongoing at the State Criminal Investigation Department.
