He reaffirms his commitment to peace, unity and renewed service following the end of emergency rule.

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has called on the church and residents of the state to continue praying for his administration as he resumes full duties. The governor made this appeal on Sunday at St. Paul’s Anglican Church in Opobo Town, Opobo/Nkoro Local Government Area, during a thanksgiving service marking his first public appearance since the end of the six-month emergency rule.

Fubara, who returned to office last Friday, said prayers had been a major source of strength and would remain vital as he carries out his mandate. He explained that attending the church service was a personal act of gratitude to God for his family, Rivers State, and Nigeria.

“I am here with my wife this first Sunday after the suspension of the state of emergency. We cannot thank God enough as a family. Our being here is private, we came simply to worship in our home church,” he said.

The governor thanked the people of Opobo for their continuous prayers and support, likening their intercessions to savings that produce results over time. He also stressed that peace was essential for progress and unity, saying it creates the right environment for health, development, and stability.

Fubara reaffirmed his commitment to serve the people of Rivers State and asked for their ongoing prayers and cooperation as his administration charts a renewed course. Special prayers were also offered by the church leadership for the governor, his family, the state, and the country.
