The Anambra State Commissioner for Health has praised the state’s First Lady, Dr. Nonye Soludo, for her outstanding contributions to public health and social development through her flagship initiative, Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo.

Addressing journalists in Awka, the Commissioner described Mrs. Soludo as a transformative figure whose compassion and quiet leadership are reshaping health and welfare services across the state.
Since its launch, the Healthy Living project has delivered far-reaching results: the free distribution of more than 3.8 million insecticide-treated mosquito nets to fight malaria, the creation of Healthy Living Clubs in over 800 schools, and free cervical cancer screenings and treatments for thousands of women.
Other highlights include free corrective surgeries for children with cleft conditions, statewide immunization drives against Rotavirus, Polio and Measles, and the distribution of 14,000 fortified pap packs to malnourished children with significant recovery outcomes.
Mrs. Soludo has also promoted empowerment through the SKILLE Women Training Program and installed Pad Banks in more than 350 schools to ensure menstrual hygiene for young girls. Additionally, more than 26,000 senior citizens have received free multivitamins, and over 1,000 people living with disabilities have been enrolled in the Anambra State Health Insurance Scheme.
Her efforts have earned national recognition, including Nigeria’s First Lady of the Year award on Healthcare and Child Nutrition and an honorary doctorate in Public Health and Child Nutrition from Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU).
The Commissioner noted that Mrs. Soludo’s work is driven not by publicity but by a commitment to improve lives, saying her impact is reflected in healthier mothers, children, the elderly, and vulnerable groups across the state.
He urged Anambra residents to consolidate these gains and continue supporting the initiative, stressing the importance of continuity for a healthier and more inclusive future.
