Police said the arrest, which they described as a major success in the fight against violent crime, took place on September 18, 2025. A joint patrol team of officers and vigilantes, led by Divisional Police Officer Bello Lawal of Kamba Division, carried out the operation.

State Police Public Relations Officer Nafiu Abubakar named the suspects as Saifullahi Suleiman, 37; Halidu Adamu, 26; Ibrahim Abubakar, 37; and Sani Kabiru, 22. All four are from Kamba town in Dandi Local Government Area. They were reportedly caught with three Honda motorcycles, locally called “Boko Haram” bikes.

According to Abubakar, the motorcycles valued at about ₦5.4 million were brought from the Benin Republic and were intended for delivery to the Lakurawa terrorist group through an unidentified contact in Kangiwa town, Arewa Local Government Area.

During the investigation, another suspect, Mubarak Ladan, 28, allegedly tried to bribe the Divisional Police Officer with ₦600,000 to free the arrested men. “He was immediately arrested and the cash recovered as evidence,” Abubakar said.

Commissioner of Police Bello Sani has ordered the State Criminal Investigation Department in Birnin Kebbi to intensify efforts to find other suspects linked to the case. He praised the Kamba DPO and vigilante members for their courage and professionalism and encouraged other divisional heads to show similar dedication.
