Tinubu Holds Private Meeting With Fubara at Aso Villa
baraPresident Bola Tinubu meets privately with Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
It is Fubara’s first visit since the state of emergency was lifted and his suspension ended.
President Bola Tinubu on Monday held a private meeting with Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. Governor Fubara, dressed in a white caftan and black cap, arrived at the State House at about 6:20 p.m. This marks his first visit to the Villa since the lifting of the state of emergency in Rivers State on September 18, 2025, and the end of his six-month suspension from office.

Earlier in March this year, President Tinubu had declared a state of emergency in Rivers State, suspended the existing democratic structures and appointed a sole administrator to manage the state’s affairs. The governor’s return to the Villa is seen as a significant political development following months of political tension in the state.
Although the agenda of the meeting was not disclosed at the time of reporting, it followed a series of other engagements the President held on the same day with top government officials, including leading governors, the Speaker of the House of Representatives and key federal economic managers.
