In a heartfelt midnight message, President Tinubu described his wife as his confidant, counsellor, and steady anchor through decades of political struggle and service.

“As you celebrate your 65th birthday today, I honor not only the love of my life, but also a woman whose quiet strength and enduring grace have been my steadying anchor,” he wrote.

He highlighted her sacrifices during years of political exile and challenges, adding: “Nigeria owes you more than many will ever know.”

Mrs Tinubu dedicated her birthday to fundraising for the completion of Nigeria’s long-delayed National Library project in Abuja, calling on well-wishers to contribute to the ‘Oluremi@65 Education Fund’.

Vice-President Shettima hailed her as a “symbol of womanhood, strength, and compassion”, stressing that her resilience has impacted millions of Nigerians. “When the history of this administration is written, her name will be inscribed in gold,” he declared.

From the legislature, Senate President Godswill Akpabio called her “a pillar of love and strength to her husband, the less privileged and the nation at large,” while Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin commended her decades of contributions to nation-building, from the New Era Foundation to her 12 years in the Senate and her current role through the Renewed Hope Initiative.

Governors across party lines joined the celebration:

Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos) praised her as “a great ambassador of our dear state.”

Biodun Oyebanji (Ekiti) described her as “a special gift to the nation.”

Ahmed Usman Ododo (Kogi) called her “an Amazon and source of inspiration.”

Sheriff Oborevwori (Delta) hailed her empowerment programs as “a beacon of hope.”

Ademola Adeleke (Osun, PDP) described her as “an incredible woman of unimaginable importance” who championed women’s rights in the Senate.

Other political figures, including Kano APC leader Musa Kwankwaso and NIWA MD Bola Oyebamiji, lauded her as a virtuous woman of humility and integrity.

Born on September 21, 1960, Oluremi Tinubu rose to national prominence as Lagos First Lady (1999–2007), later representing Lagos Central in the Senate for 12 years.

Since becoming Nigeria’s First Lady in May 2023, she has continued to champion education, women’s empowerment, and youth development, with her Renewed Hope Initiative launching programs to support widows, small farmers, and vulnerable families.
