CAC to Deploy AI Agent to Clear 7,000 Pending Company Registrations

The CAC is deploying an AI-powered system to clear a backlog of 7,000 company registration applications and speed up approvals on its portal.

The upgrade will allow instant name approvals, automatic suggestions and faster handling of customer enquiries.

The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) says it is rolling out an Artificial Intelligence (AI) system to address a backlog of about 7,000 company registration applications and improve the speed of its services.

Registrar-General of the commission, Hussaini Magaji, disclosed the initiative at a stakeholders’ forum in Kano on Monday. In a follow-up statement on the CAC’s official social media page on Tuesday, he described the upgrade as a “comprehensive overhaul” of the existing Company Registration Portal (CRP).

Magaji explained that the AI-powered portal first introduced in June was designed to handle compliance, registry and customer-service functions more quickly and accurately. He said the new platform will enable instant business name approvals and generate alternative suggestions automatically if a chosen name is unavailable.

“Reserving a company name will now be as simple as creating an email account,” Magaji noted, adding that the AI will streamline approvals and suggestions in real time.

He acknowledged that customers have faced delays since the launch of the new system, attributing the hiccups to an unexpectedly high volume of applications. According to him, the AI solution is also being developed to handle the commission’s heavy email and call traffic.

Magaji said the technology would be able to scan thousands of emails within a minute, identify duplicate inquiries, interpret messages and redirect them to the appropriate department for prompt attention.

Earlier in June, the CAC launched the AI-driven registration platform as part of efforts to modernize Nigeria’s business environment, simplify company registration and accelerate approvals.
