Lagos Engages Computer Village Traders On Relocation To Katangowa ICT Park
The Lagos State Government has started talks to relocate Computer Village traders to Katangowa ICT Park.
Traders welcomed the plan, saying it will grow business and reduce congestion in Ikeja.
The Lagos State Government has begun formal consultations with traders at Computer Village, Ikeja, on the planned relocation of the market to the new ICT and Business Park in Katangowa, Agbado-Oke Odo.

Speaking at a stakeholder meeting held on Otigba Street, Ikeja, the Permanent Secretary of the Office of Urban Development, Arc. Gbolahan Owodunni Oki stated that the session was convened at the directive of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to ensure inclusiveness and transparency in the relocation process.
“For the first time in 15 years, government officials are meeting you in your market to discuss this matter. This demonstrates the governor’s dedication to openness and stakeholder participation,” Oki said.
He explained that the new Katangowa ICT and Business Park would feature modern facilities, including hotels, banking halls, recreation centers, car parks, a fire station, a police post, and planned access roads.
According to him, the relocation would not only enhance commercial activities but also restore order to Ikeja, which was initially designed as a residential area.
Oki appealed to traders to support the initiative, desist from trading on roads and drainage setbacks, and embrace the government’s urban renewal program.
Officials from the Urban Development Department also delivered presentations highlighting the long-term benefits of the move.
The Iyaloja of Computer Village, Chief (Mrs.) Abisola Azeez endorsed the relocation, describing it as an opportunity to expand the market’s scope and provide a more conducive trading environment for both traders and customers.
Other senior officials present included: Tpl. Oladimeji Animashaun, General Manager, Lagos State Urban Renewal Agency (LASURA)
Builder Florence Gbaye, Coordinating Director, Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA)
Mr. Segun Williams, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Urban Development
Executive members of the Computer Village Market Association
The government believes the Katangowa relocation will transform Lagos into a more structured tech and business hub, while addressing the congestion and planning issues that have long plagued Ikeja.
